Our District is working to grow the number of clubs sponsoring Achievement Beyond Obstacles (ABO) programs.  These programs are designed to help high school seniors that have had great life challenges, yet are still graduating high school and plan to continue with their education.

These youth, who have drawn the short straw in life to this point but have shown the tenacity to keep growing despite these issues, give you great satisfaction when you reach out to help them.  While many Rotary Clubs give scholarships to the best and brightest, those youth have many scholarship options.  The youth that ABO addresses frequently have no scholarship options.

ABO programs can be many faceted or very simple depending on your club and community; you can design a program that will work for your situation.  Attached are two files that will help you better understand the ABO program and some options that you should consider when designing a program for your community and club.  In addition, you can find a webpage on the District Website under Service/Achievement Beyond Obstacles with more info including videos and PowerPoint presentation files.  Further, Area 8 has a website for their ABO program with more information, http://www.abonevada.com/.
