District 5190 Community Fund Update

Our District 5190 Community Fund (DCF), a 501c3 Foundation, continues its mission to support Club and District needs.

Disaster Relief has been a major portion of what the DCF has done since it became active in 2021.

•    Rotarians will have the opportunity to plant saplings in South Lake Tahoe and Placerville in October and November in fire areas (need to avoid the summer months).  The tentative dates are Oct 28 or Nov 4 in South Lake Tahoe and Nov 11 in Placerville.  This project is being done in partnership with The Sugar Pine Foundation of South Lake Tahoe.  We will keep you updated on the dates as we get closer.

•    Another Disaster Relief program is the Coloring Book that the Spiritual Wellness Committee completed and is being distributed to all elementary students impacted by the Dixie Fire.  Plans are to expand that distribution to other fire areas.

•    The Greenville RC is sponsoring the rebuild of the water tank in Indian Falls and the DCF will support the hiring of an engineer to review the overall plans to rebuild the Indian Falls water system.

•    The DCF continues to explore projects, including additional plantings in the fire affected areas.

All the DCF programs have been made possible by the many donations from our Clubs, other Districts, and individual Rotarians.  Thank You for your support!!

The DCF continues to look for donation that are undesignated Disaster Relief Funds for future Disasters both in and outside of our District.

There are many other potential uses of the DCF and these include:
1)    Youth Programs and Activities
2)    Educational Programs and Activities
3)    District Conference Educational and Charitable Activities
4)    Disaster Response Initiatives
5)    Other educational and charitable Activities as determined by the DCF Board and aligned with the DCF mission.

For Clubs without a Foundation, fundraiser donations can be made via the DCF to make them tax deductible.  To do this, a club must first complete the Memorandum of Understanding and an Application stating how the funds will be used.  These documents can be found on the District website under Member Resource/District 5190 Community Fund (501c3).  The Administrative Policies are also on this same webpage.

Donations to the DCF can be made by mailing a check to:
