The Rotary Club of Reno Centennial Sunset has put books in the hands of hundreds of local students and their families!

Previously, we won a district award after we partnered with a local bookstore to provide one free book, of their own choosing, to EVERY student AND their families at our partner elementary school. Every year, we have a reading day at "our" school, and we read to every class and donate books to every classroom. As well as club members, we've had community members like a certain redheaded mermaid (who works for a local organization that will send a princess to your party).

We also invite our partner school to choose one student from every grade to come read to us at one of our regular meetings. The families are also invited, and the students and their families often turn up in their best clothes, and take photos as if the kids were rock stars (which, really, they sort of are). It's a meeting we look forward to all year!

This year, every speaker signs a book, tapes their business card inside, and we donate it to our school. For instance, our speaker from the GI Dogs program with the Humane Society signed a perennial favorite, "Go Dog, Go!"

We want the children at "our" school, and every child, to be excited about books!
