INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

We stand on the cusp of eliminating polio forever. In turn, Rotarians are taking action on many other of the world’s most persistent problems.

When we each joined Rotary, we became a member of a global network sharing common values while bridging cultural, linguistic, generational and geographical differences.  Why?  We share a vision of a better world.

Rotary’s new vision expresses it very well:

Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

With each of our international projects, we are guided by The Rotary Foundation’s mission:

To enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, support of education and the alleviation of poverty.

TAKE ACTION:

  1. Check out the stories in the navigation bar in the left column of this page to learn how clubs in our district have demonstrated and advanced Rotary’s vision and mission for international service.

  • Notice how District 5190 clubs have increased the impact of Rotary!
    • First, we are saving lives, such as the grant to lower the deaths of women in childbirth and their newborns in Chiapas, Mexico.
    • We are also transforming lives, such as with the nursing education grants in Bwindi, Uganda.
    • We are also building enduring friendships and partnering for more project success and impact, and learning about people of different cultures, their language, customs, food and history.
